It’s already been a few years, since the plan of crossing through Šumava evolved in our heads. The entire route is approximately 150 km long and that does not include getting lost and wandering around. It starts near to Nýrsko, at Hojsova Stráž and ends beyond Lipno artificial lake, specifically in the village of Lipno nad Vltavou. Every year however, the expedition has been scuppered at the last moment! Once it was Julka’s fragile health, then getting a small “furry ball” we called Róza, who would not have been able to cross the mountains at the age of four month, then the floods occurred, and so on and so forth.
The expedition consists of a couple of wannabe hikers, namely:- Julka – a girl who does not like to walk off the marked tourist trail and who is always fired up to walk another and then another kilometer, Jirka - cool guy, who doesn’t mind wandering outside the marked tourist trail and indeed would be wallowing in it, and Rozárka- furry black ball, already mentioned-above, who is not really keen to keep us company while we are wandering.
During all our trips and crossings it will be inevitably necessary to carry photographic and video equipment. Jirka and I are both students at an Art school. Perhaps, because we are creatures of habit that all experiences and impressions we have to have immortalized in some kind of a visual form. Our task is not only to traverse 150 km, but also to bring some amazing catches as pictures and also a short film.
Well, keep your fingers crossed, we gonna have to make it this year! We have to cross the beautiful Šumava :)
Good luck to all wanderers!
